Léon Spilliaert
We invite Friends of the RA to join us for an exclusive preview of our exhibition ‘Léon Spilliaert’ before it opens to the public.
From celebrated self-portraits to dreamlike views of the North Sea coast, this exhibition will introduce UK audiences to the visionary work of Belgian artist Léon Spilliaert.
Best known for a sequence of enigmatic self-portraits and for his atmospheric night-time scenes of Ostend, his visual explorations of the self and potent images of solitude align him with European modernists such as Edvard Munch and Vilhelm Hammershøi.
As a Friend of the RA, be the first to experience the exhibition at your exclusive preview days, three days ahead of the public opening.
This event is open to Friends of the RA, RA250 Friends and RA250 Supporters and members of the Academicians’ Room only.
