The Academicians’ Room
An exclusive private members club for artists and art lovers.
-
The Academicians’ Room is a place to feel at home; a place to come together in a club setting designed exclusively for members.
The club room in the Keeper’s House began life in 1883 as an architectural gallery, before becoming the favourite haunt of the Academy’s artists as a private members club. The room has now entered a new phase in its rich history, with a fresh look by the renowned Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. Vintage furnishings now create the intimate, bohemian ambience of an artist’s drawing room.
It’s a vibrant and relaxed haven in the heart of Mayfair where members can meet to share ideas and drinks, conversation and food.
Join as a member and enjoy the company of this special artistic community – it’s an extraordinary and welcoming community to be part of.

Art of Sound
We return this year with the new season of our series of Friday night DJ sessions, taking place in the Academicians’ Room. We’ve asked some of our favourite London-based DJs to dive into their archives for a series of unique music nights in the heart of the Royal Academy. DJs from a wide range of musical backgrounds will take over the Academicians’ Room, sharing their personal favourites as well as the hidden gems they’ve discovered on their musical journeys.
These events are open to members of the Academicians’ Room, Patrons and Friends of the Royal Academy and the general public.

Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea, the Academicians’ Room boasts a modern British menu with an emphasis on local and artisanal produce. The Soil Association mark ensures the quality, innovation and care taken over each dish, from conception right the way through to final presentation.
Enjoy fresh fish from the Cornish coast or hearty game with seasonal vegetables; as well as our classic Champagne afternoon teas, with a choice of 14 fine, loose teas and scones made that morning. A sophisticated selection of wines and spirits is also served alongside the ever-developing cocktail menu. Come try one of the signature cocktails and experience the Academicians’ Room for yourself.
