Entangled Pasts, 1768–now
Explore a variety of media, artists and narratives in this primary teachers' continuing professional development workshop.
Join artist and educator Esther Adesigbin to experiment with new ways of making inspired by the artists in Entangled Pasts, 1768-now: Art, Colonialism and Change.
Following a brief visit to the exhibition, we’ll introduce resources to support teachers and students to explore questions of power, representation and history raised in the exhibition, culminating in the creation of your own clay Empathy Pot.
We’ll also consider the Black Curriculum, a project aiming to incorporate accessible and engaging Black histories into the curriculum, and how it applies to the art classroom.
We welcome all levels of art knowledge and particularly encourage state school teachers who would benefit from extra CPD support to teach art at primary level. All materials will be provided.
This exhibition contains themes of slavery and racism, and historical racial language and imagery. Please contact us for more information.
If this workshop is full and you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email learning@royalacademy.org.uk.
