On this private visit, Friends learn about Horace Walpole’s Gothic masterpiece Strawberry Hill and its meticulous two year-long restoration.
Magically lit by a unique collection of renaissance glass, Strawberry Hill’s gloomy castle-like hall and grey gothic staircase lead dramatically to the magnificence of its gallery and state apartments.
After lunch, we visit Garrick’s Temple to Shakespeare, a hidden gem on the banks of the River Thames, which was built in 1756 by the actor David Garrick, famously depicted by painter Johan Zoffany in 1762.
Includes coach, coffee, lunch, glass of wine, tea.
