Léon Spilliaert
Join a creative workshop for community groups inspired by Léon Spilliaert.
This creative workshop is designed for groups working with disabled artists or adults facing barriers to engaging with arts and culture.
In this session, an artist educator supports participants to view and respond to artworks in Léon Spilliaert. Afterwards, participants create their own artwork in response to the exhibition. Each workshop is tailored to meet the access requirements and preferences of the group.
This workshop is recommended for groups of 7–15 participants. Refreshments and volunteer support are provided.
Léon Spilliaert is the first monographic exhibition of the Belgian artist’s work in the UK. The self-taught artist’s haunting portraits and nightscapes are shaped by the affinity he felt with writers and thinkers such as Edgar Allan Poe and Friedrich Nietzsche. This exhibition brings together works from public and private collections across Belgium, France and the USA, presenting a journey through the lifetime of a remarkably insightful and unusual artist.
