Matisse in the Studio
A creative workshop inspired by artworks in ‘Matisse in the Studio’.
This sumptuous exhibition offers a rare glimpse into Henri Matisse’s personal collection, as well as the paintings, sculptures and drawings it inspired. Seen together, they reveal how Matisse’s masterful vision of richness, balance and vital, fluid energy first stemmed from the collage of patterns and rhythms which he found in the world of objects.
Led by two artist educators, attendees will be supported to explore and respond to this eclectic mix of objects and artworks in the galleries. Afterwards, the group will be introduced to a range of materials, prints and patterns and guided to create their own artworks.
These workshops are designed for groups working with disabled adults or adults at risk of exclusion from arts and culture. We advise groups are not more than 15 people so we can ensure everyone attending is properly supported to engage with the workshop.
