Charles I: King and Collector
A tour of ‘Charles I: King and Collector’ in British Sign Language (BSL).
During his reign, Charles I set about assembling an art collection to rival all others, acquiring work by the great artists of the past, including Titian and Durer, as well as commissioning impressive contemporary artists of his time including Van Dyck and Rubens. His collection of exceptional masterpieces was sold off following his execution in 1649. Our exhibition will reunite the greatest masterpieces of this magnificent collection for the first time.
Join art historian John Wilson as we delve into this extraordinary collection of works, ranging from classical sculptures to Baroque paintings, and from exquisite miniatures to monumental tapestries.
