Matisse in the Studio
At this event for blind and visually impaired visitors, artist educator Harry Baxter will lead an audio described tour of the exhibition, followed by refreshments and a handling session.
This sumptuous exhibition offers a rare glimpse into Henri Matisse’s personal collection, as well as the paintings, sculptures and drawings it inspired. Seen together, they reveal how Matisse’s masterful vision of richness, balance and vital, fluid energy first stemmed from the collage of patterns and rhythms which he found in the world of objects.
Join us for an audio-described tour in the galleries to explore this eclectic collection, drawn from the far corners of the world, as we reveal through words and through handling objects how these items took on new life in Matisse’s transcendent art.
This event includes refreshments and volunteer support is provided.
