We are proud to be exhibiting limited editions by Joe Tilson RA from his ongoing series dedicated to Venice, in the Academicians' Room from 22nd April 2018.
Joe Tilson RA has been making prints for almost 60 years. Defying the conventions of traditional printmaking practice, Tilson’s unique visual language continues to draw on his early experiences as a carpenter. Venice has captivated the artist since his first visit in 1949. Drawing from a myriad of influences – including religious architecture, tile mosaics, mathematical symbols and graphic motifs – Tilson’s vibrant prints have a ‘constructed’ feel, often made by combining a variety of printmaking techniques and including elements of collage and hand-colouring.
Born in London in 1928, Joe Tilson now divides his time between London and Italy and continues to work with passion and energy as he approaches his 90th birthday in August 2018.
All works are available for sale. We are pleased to offer a complimentary Academicians’ Room day pass to any visitors who would like to view these works and experience the Academicians’ Room – simply complete the form below to request yours.
