Victoria Adam, A healthy soil, 2017.

Installation view at Hunter Whitfield Gallery.

Young Patrons are invited to visit RA Schools graduate Victoria Adam in her Hackney studio.

Victoria Adam graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in 2015 and from the Slade School of Art in 2006. Adam makes sculptures intended to be experienced close-up and draw people into their intimacy. Borrowing from the contemporary world of health and beauty, combined with a fascination with medieval ideals of hygiene and materiality, the works often employ the tactile or olfactory to mark out ideas of personal space, chance connection, desire or derision.

Through the methods of their making, the objects are usually intensely handled and worked, wavering between a satisfaction from polished surface and a gleeful pleasure in hands-on grubbiness.
