The RA Schools, Royal Academy of Arts, Piccadilly
£20. Schools Patrons only.
Patrons are invited into the RA Schools to meet the students, see the projects they are currently working on and find out more about their work and life in the schools.
The creation of art has been at the heart of the Royal Academy since 1768 when artists and architects established the RA. One of the central aims of the RA was to create a British school of art. The following year the RA Schools was officially formed, with the sole intention of training artists.
Today, our students explore and develop their creative practice within the context of this unique artistic heritage. Recent graduates have gone on to be shown at the leading galleries in the world, and have received numerous prizes and awards. They include Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, Eddie Peake, Matthew Darbyshire, Prem Sahib and Catherine Story to name but a few.
Every year, the RA Schools receives hundreds of applications and take on just 17 of the most promising artists. By limiting numbers, we have the flexibility to treat each artist as an individual, tailoring their studies to their particular areas of interest and practice.
