A practical five-day course exploring paint and painting techniques through the genres of still life and portraiture.
This course teaches acrylic, gouache and oils, using the traditional subjects of still life and portrait painting to experiment and explore the unique properties of each medium. Working directly from still life subjects, and building up to working from portrait models, participants will learn basic structural drawing skills, colour mixing, paint application and brush handling techniques.
These practical sessions will be interspersed with unique opportunities to access experts in their fields as well as viewings of the RA’s vast behind-the-scenes archive.
Your tutor will be Robin-Lee Hall PPRP, Past President of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and winner of the Ondaatje Medal for Portraiture.
