Open Saturdays: Demonstrate & Create
Saturday 11 March 2017 2 - 3.30pm
The Learning Studio or The John Madejski Fine Rooms, Burlington House, Royal Academy of Arts.
Free, sign-up on the day in the Front Hall.
Join us at the RA on the second Saturday of every month for an artist-led taster workshop, focusing on a specific artistic technique each session.
In these monthly workshops, our artist will demonstrate an artistic technique relating to an object in the RA’s permanent collection or to a specific historical architectural feature of the building. This will be followed by a short creative session, supported by volunteers, in which you can create your own work inspired by the technique.
This month, consider the tactile large-scale structures of Royal Academician Phyllida Barlow at this workshop. Get an introduction to some of the techniques involved in creating in Barlow's monumental works, before trying your hand at constructing your own sculpture from paper, cardboard and other found objects.
Please sign up on the day in the Front Hall an hour before the session. These sessions are free but spaces are limited.
