Explore new approaches to architecture, with world-renowned architect and Harvard Professor Toshiko Mori.
In this talk, New York based architect Toshiko Mori will discuss her practice and reflect on what it means to create award-winning buildings all over the world. She will unpack what it means to think creatively and discuss the impact architecture can have on our environments. This talk frames architecture as a creative discipline like art or music and invites especially younger audiences to think differently about their cities and buildings.
Mori is known for over thirty years of innovative and influential work on diverse projects, including the Fass School and Teachers’ Residence in Senegal as well as master plans for the Brooklyn Public Library Central Branch and the Buffalo Botanical Gardens, New York. Her intelligent approach to historical context and innovative use of materials reflect a creative integration of design and technology.
Following Mori’s talk, we encourage the audience to ask questions.
Toshiko Mori is the founding principal of the architecture practice, Toshiko Mori Architect (TMA), which she established in 1981 in New York City. She is also the Robert P. Hubbard Professor in the Practice of Architecture at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design (GSD).
Mori has won numerous awards including the Academy Award in Architecture, from the American Academy of Arts and Letters; the AIA New York Chapter Medal of Honor; and most recently, the Architectural Record’s Women in Architecture Design Leader Award in 2019.
