Discover the history of the late 12th-century Temple Church, built by the Knights Templar as their English headquarters. Afterwards, enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour and three-course lunch at Middle Temple Hall.
Temple Church was built by the Knights Templar in the 12th century. Our introduction to the church’s history and architecture will be given by Robin Griffith Jones, the Reverend and Valiant Master of the Temple Church. After touring the church, we walk the short distance to Middle Temple Hall, one of the four Inns of Court, where we will have a tour of the private reception rooms and a three-course lunch in the magnificent Middle Temple Hall.
Middle Temple Hall dates from 1562 and houses the finest example of an Elizabethan Hall in the country, featuring a double hammer beam roof, carved from the oak of Windsor Forest, and an elaborately carved screen made in 1574. On our tour we will learn about the history of Middle Temple and the Inns of Court; the professional associations for barristers in England and Wales.
This event will also be held on 28 April
