Join Friends for a guided tour at the Palace of Westminster focusing on the art and architecture of the House of Lords.
Home to the House of Lords, the Palace of Westminster owes its stunning Gothic architecture to the 19th-century architect Sir Charles Barry RA. Our tour, led by specialist guides, focuses on the House of Lords, highlighting the craftsmanship of Barry and the spectacular fixtures and fittings designed by the eccentric A.W.N. Pugin, as well as the rich collection of artwork on show throughout the building.
Our tour begins at the top of the Royal Staircase in the Norman Porch where the Queen enters the Palace of Westminster and follows the Queen’s processional route taken at the State Opening of Parliament. Along the way, we learn about the architecture and artworks in the Queen’s Robing Room, the Royal Gallery and Prince’s Chamber before entering the majestic Lords Chamber. Our tour finishes with a glass of champagne in a private room near historic Westminster Hall.
