Cultural historian and lecturer, television producer and author Franny Moyle discusses the challenges of writing about the lives of well-known artists, from Turner to Holbein.

Franny Moyle has written biographies on J.M.W. Turner, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and is currently working on one about Hans Holbein the Younger. A successful TV producer and passionate independent cultural historian, Moyle has made films on a vast array of arts and cultural topics, from Francis Bacon to Andrew Wyeth. She divides her working life between television, writing and lecturing.

In this event chaired by broadcast journalist Georgina Godwin, Moyle talks about the challenges of writing about well-known artists, how she renanimates their life stories, and why she didn’t use her degree in Art History to become a museum specialist. The talk will be followed by a Q&A.
