Take part in a family illustration workshop inspired by your favourite characters from ‘Charlie and Lola’, ‘Ruby Redfort’ and ‘The Frank Show’, and the people who are special in your own life.
In this workshop, led by illustrator and educator, Julie Vermeille, learn the techniques of Lauren Child and David Mackintosh – the team who bring Charlie and Lola to life. Learn about collage, how to draw with ink, and the importance of text layout to create your own spectacular stories and characters. Design a character based on a member of your family or circle of friends who you really look up to. Take inspiration from the grandad character in David Mackintosh’s The Frank Show, or some of the different family members in the stories by Lauren Child.
Julie Vermeille studied Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts. She has been working as a freelance illustrator and art educator since leaving college. She is passionate about books and book art, and trained as a bookbinder with City & Guilds.
This event is suitable for ages 7+.
