Lucian Freud: The Self-portraits
Guest curator Jasper Sharp discusses the self-portraits of Lucian Freud and the first exhibition dedicated to the most important body of work within the artist's oeuvre.
Curated in collaboration with Freud's longtime assistant David Dawson, the exhibition presents paintings, drawings and prints produced over almost seventy years, revealing the artist's development both as an artist and as a human being.
At this event, Jasper Sharp will discuss the key themes and works in the exhibition, looking closely at the key self-portraits from the different chapters of Freud's career and placing them within the context of his work as a whole.
Jasper Sharp is the Curator for Modern and Contemporary Art at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna. In recent years he has curated survey exhibitions of Lucian Freud, Joseph Cornell and Mark Rothko.
