Join Friends on this walking tour of Canary Wharf, where we view some of its most iconic buildings and see highlights of the ever-growing collection of public art dotted around the walkways of this financial metropolis.
Canary Wharf was planned on a grand scale, yet with meticulous attention to detail. Some of the world’s leading architects and designers were involved in its creation including Cesar Pelli, who designed One Canada Square, and Foster + Partners, (founded by Royal Academician Norman Foster) who designed the iconic Canary Wharf station. The station has become an icon in its own right, described by The Observer as “a cross between Canterbury cathedral and the set of Aliens”.
We also explore the collection of public art around Canary Wharf, seeing many of its sculptures and artworks created by eminent artists of today including Windward (2000) by Ron Arad RA, Couple on Seat (1984) by Lynn Chadwick and Six Public Clocks (1999) by Konstantin Grcic.
This event will also be held on 23 February.
