Immerse yourself in the world of plants in this weekend course.
Learn to see and express the intricate details of plants with artist and educator Fay Ballard. During this weekend course, you will develop your botanical drawing skills using a variety of mediums including pen, pencil, watercolour and acrylic paints. You will try your hand at practical exercises to build your ability to create detailed botanical artworks and learn to capture the structural elements of plants, focusing on light and form.
By the end of the course, you will understand the principles of depicting plants and have the foundational skills to continue your journey creating botanical art.
Fay Ballard is an artist and educator whose studio practice is centred on drawing, underpinned by an interest in psychoanalysis. Her work is held by HM The King, The Prince’s Foundation, Murray Edwards College Cambridge, Imperial Health Charity (NHS), Royal Society of Physicians, Royal Watercolour Society, Dr Shirley Sherwood Collection of Botanical Art and Winsor & Newton. Fay studied History of Art at University of Sussex, and MA Fine Art at Central Saint Martin’s Art School. She was a trustee of Camden Arts Centre and a member of the Royal Watercolour Society.
