Join Senior Curator Helen Valentine for a free 30 minute talk in the Tennant Gallery, introducing the exhibition ‘Anthony Whishaw RA: With Spain in Mind’

Due to the ongoing circumstances surrounding coronavirus, we regret to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel all events advertised for 2020 at this moment. If you have purchased tickets to an event, please contact us on 0207 300 8090 or tickets@royalacademy.org.uk and include your order number to arrange a refund. We aim to reply within 5 working days.

In this talk, Valentine offers insights into the longstanding influence of Spain, Spanish landscapes, and Spanish cultures and artists on Anthony Whishaw RA’s paintings, sketches and works on paper.

With first hand insights from the curator, learn more about the paintings depicting the savage ritual of bullfighting and discover why Whishaw has been drawn to the vistas of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, and deserted Spanish villages, since his first visit in 1951.
