RA250 stories: The architects

Behind the scenes

Published 29 July 2015

Our new video series goes behind the scenes to reveal the ideas and people behind the transformation of the Royal Academy ahead of our 250th anniversary in 2018. In the first episode, members of the project team from David Chipperfield Architects discuss how they’re taking it from concept to reality.

  • RA250 stories: The architects

David Chipperfield Architects has been given the task of uniting the Academy’s two buildings – Burlington House and 6 Burlington Gardens – into one cultural site, and creating new spaces such as a link bridge and lecture theatre.

Nick Hill, Associate Director of David Chipperfield Architects, discusses what’s involved in bringing the project from concept to reality with DCA architects Maria Giramé and Jonathan Cohen.

  • This video series is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Visit the RA250 page for more information about the plans for our 250th anniversary in 2018.
