Experimentations in Chiaroscuro: Beccafumi’s Prints, Oil Sketches and Marble Intarsia

Published 30 May 2014

National Gallery curator, Dr. Jennifer Sliwka, discusses the works of Domenico Beccafumi.

  • Sliwka discusses the life and work of Domenico Beccafumi (1486 - 1551), and how the light and shade of chiaroscuro pervades his early pioneering use of oil sketches, his marble intarsia pavements and the later woodcuts featured in the exhibition.

This event was recorded as part of our programme for the Renaissance Impressions exhibition.
