David Hockney has engaged with poetry throughout his career. Poet in residence Pele Cox curates an evening of readings evoking aspects of Hockney's poetic imagination through performances of works by the Brothers Grimm, Constantine Cavafy, Stephen Spender, William Blake and Walt Whitman.
Personal Landscapes: Views from the End of Life

Concluding a collaboration of events with St Christopher’s Hospice inspired by ‘David Hockney: A Bigger Picture’, actress Sheila Hancock, Sir Richard MacCormac RA, Nigel Hartley (St Christopher’s Hospice), and Peter Hewitt (Guy's and St Thomas' Charity) consider how the prospect of death offers us the possibility to reconceptualise our own story or personal landscape, and choose our own legacy. Photographing the Urban Landscape

Professional photographer Roy Matthews leads this workshop in photographing the urban landscape. Comprising a practical session on the streets of Mayfair and Soho, followed by a critique at the RA, this workshop is designed for all abilities and camera types (although digital is preferred for immediate image review on the day).

InPerson at the RA: Access for All
Friday 10 February
Jazz Funk ensemble Principle 3 lead this Friday-Night-Late art club where participants will have the chance to create Hockney ‘soundscapes’ and then draw them as pastel landscapes. The night will finish with a performance by Principle 3 and a visit to the Hockney exhibition. This event can be adapted to support everybody’s individual needs.
