Catherine Sullivan uses a multi-disciplinary approach incorporating theatre, dance, film, music and visual art to explore themes such as nostalgia, the sensations of history and cultural acquiescence. The performers in her works are often coping with written texts, stylistic economies, reenactments of historic performances and conceptual orthodoxies. Usually shot or performed within locations which project their own social functions, the elements of character, action and setting agitate one another producing an anxious and unresolved political sensibility. Her true medium is the ensemble itself, and her works most often involve multiple collaborators.

"Triangle of Need" is a multi-channel digital film installation in collaboration with Los Angeles-based composer Sean Griffin, Minneapolis-based choreographer Dylan Skybrook, and Lagos, Nigeria-based actor and director Kunle Afolayan.
