Taking a special display at The Queen’s Gallery as a starting point, this day of talks and life drawing explores Johann Zoffany RA’s iconic painting of the Royal Academy life room alongside masterpieces of life drawing from the Royal Collection.

The morning session takes place at The Queen’s Gallery with a talk on the history and practice of drawing the nude, followed by a visit to the gallery’s exhibition.

The afternoon session opens with a curator’s talk in the Royal Academy’s John Madejski Fine Rooms before joining Francis Bowyer for a three-hour life drawing workshop in the Royal Academy’s historic life room.

Zoffany’s painting is the subject of a ‘Picture in Focus’ at The Queen’s Gallery from 30 October to 14 February.

Organised jointly with The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace.

Meet at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace Road; 10 am–5 pm
