Content Description

Farington gives details about the son of the widow of Fuseli's friend, Dr Tattershall. The boy was well and in a creditable situation with a respectable printer, after he had run away from school, allegedly as a result of the cruelty of the master. Farington proceeds to give his reasons for thinking that the stipend of the Professor of Painting should not be increased, despite acknowledging that the office carried greater importance than those of the other professors. He concludes by thanking Fuseli for his kind wishes, while confessing the difficulty he felt in coming to terms with the death [of his wife, Susan Mary Farington].
