Sir George Clausen RA, Study of an old man with a stick

Study of an old man with a stick, ca. 1882-1884

Sir George Clausen RA (1852 - 1944)

RA Collection: Art

A full-length study of an old man, turned slightly towards the left, wearing a hat and smock and holding a staff. On the verso are two drawings of oil lamps and a drawing of a candlestick. This is probably the same man seen at the far left in Clausen's Labourers After Dinner (1884; private collection, Australia) and other works from this period, including The Villager (1882; private collection).
