Studies of an old man relating to 'Labourers After Dinner', ca. 1884

Sir George Clausen RA (1852 - 1944)

RA Collection: Art

Two studies for the old man seen at the far left of the painting Labourers After Dinner (1884; private collection). Neither study relates exactly to the position of the man seen in the finished work. RA 05/821 is another study for this figure, although RA 05/772 can probably be more conclusively related to Labourers After Dinner rather than the earlier painting The Villager (1882; private collection) which depicts the same model.
