The front pastedown carries a bookplate depicting a mythical bird surrounded by the letters N, H, L & T. The rear pastedown carries the ticket of Bone & Son, book binders of 76 Fleet Street, London.

Binding Note

Publisher's binding. Over bevelled red boards, upper cover stamped in gilt, the title within deeply-embossed central lozenge (repeated in blind on lower cover), gilt spine decoration. Spine title: "Longfellow's Poetical Works. With illlustrations by John Gilbert. Routledge & Co."
