Grosvenor Notes for the years 1877 – 1882 bound together, with a uniform title page: Grosvenor Notes 1877-1882. Containing complete catalogues of the Summer Exhibitions at the Grosvenor Gallery. With 32 page `Chatto and Windus's List of Books' dated October 1882 bound at the back of the volume.
`No. IV. 1881. The purpose of “GROSVENOR NOTES” is to be descriptive, rather than critical; to form an annual record of the Summer Exhibitions which should be interesting and useful for reference.

The ILLUSTRATIONS are intended to convey an idea of the composition, rather than of the effect, of the pictures, and are not intended as works of art. The most interesting and useful are those reproduced in facsimile from sketches received from the artists; they are to be distinguished throughout the book by an asterisk ( * ) under the illustration.

The Editor is indebted to those artists who have assisted him with sketches, and to Sir Coutts Lindsay for the facilities afforded him for the rapid production of the book.’ [p.3].
