Although King Ferdinand of Naples attained his majority in 1767, the two volumes carry the same frontispiece portrait of King Charles (as King of Spain) and title-page vignette (also a portrait of King Charles) as appeared in volumes II-IV of the 'Pitture'. The portrait is signed by Camillus Paderni as draughtsman and Philippus Morghen as engraver; tghe title-page vignette by 'Gio. Morgh.' as draughtsman and 'Filip. Morgh.' as engraver. Most of the plates are signed. Draughtsmen include V. Campana, G. Casanova, G. Morghen, P. de la Vega and N. Vanni. Engravers include G. Alloja, N. Billy, L. Boilly, F. Campana, P. Campana, A. Several objects are shown from more than one angle; and most include a scale of measurement (Roman and Neapolitan palmi). |
