Historical Background
The Committee was appointed by the General Assembly of 27 March 1850 to report to the Council on the proposed removal of the Royal Academy from the National Gallery building in Trafalgar Square, London. The committee reported to Council on the 3rd of June, which referred the matter without comment to General Assembly. For this reason the records remain among those of the General Assembly.
Content Description
The papers consist of minutes of the Committee, 4 April - 1 June 1850 and two draft copies of the report of the Committee, dated 1 June 1850.
