The books contain lists of the signatures of students used as a means of recording daily attendance in the Plaister Academy (also known, more formerly, as the Antique Academy). The series contains the following gaps: 27 November 1790 - 23 March 1791; 10 November 1792 - 7 March 1793; 28 June 1794 - 22 March 1795 and 19 February 1797 - 31 October 1797. The books bear the label "From the library of Ch[arles] Fairfax Murray".
