Historical Background

These records came about through a decision of Council, 19th Nov 1790, that the Keeper make a list of those who draw in the Academy, along with their date of admittance (RAA/PC/1/2, p.120-123)

Content Description

The eighteenth century books, where they survive, form a detailed record of the attendance of Schools students in the Plaister Academy (known more formerly as the Antique Academy) and the Life Academy. They are of use in showing the composition of classes attended by students such as J. M. W. Turner and Martin Shee.
