A resolution was passed that
Henry Tanworth Wells should compose a paper on the RA's finances after he spoke on the subject at the General Assembly of 29 May 1883. Both his paper and that of the Treasurer in response were read at the General Assembly of 30 November 1883, after which a resolution (proposed by
J. E. Millais) was passed nem. con. that the financial condition of the RA was a sound one, and admitted to any reasonable addition to annual expenditure.
