On the news of the appointment of
Lord Cornwallis to the supreme government of India, he called on all his friends to solicit their influence and wrote to Sir Charles Bunbury, to whom he has been known the greater part of his life. This was long before he had reason to expect the kindnesses that the addressee has afforded him. He has called on Bunbury who says Cornwallis thinks he cannot interfere.
