Although it is not clear who the note is addressed to an entry in Farington's diary suggests that West was personally in contact with the King on the 26th March 1796.

Concerning the warrant to be drawn up for the appointment of John Yenn as Treasurer of the Royal Academy. Mathias will draw up the warrant and let the Keeper of the Privy Purse know it is on the way.
