Content Description

Copy letter. Gibson is pleased that Saulini's cameo [of Queen Victoria] had arrived safely and met with the approval of Prince Albert. Gibson had sent a package to the consul at Rome containing drawings of some of the works of leading sculptors, including himself, with prices marked. He comments on a number of them, including Tenerani's 'Psyche in a Faint', [William] Theed's 'Narcissus', and his own group depicting the Spartan youth Acrotates and Queen Caledonia, and statue of a boy taking aim with a walnut. Gibson also gives prices for copies of antique statues. He concludes by mentioning that he was working every day on the full size model of the Queen's statue.
