Content Description

He apologises for his handwriting, but Sir J. must like it as he asked Northcote to copy out his discourse to be read at the Academy; the body of one of the Jews hung for murder was brought to the Academy for use in an Anatomy lecture by Dr. Hunter, then a cast was made from it; Miss Reynolds always asks fondly after [Samuel]; speaks briefly of the affairs of other young artists; Sir Joshua is no fop like Horneck, although he dresses grandly; he relates a story of Dr. Johnson encouraging Miss Palmer to paint "checkers for ale houses", Sir Joshua reckoning she should paint signs; Mr. Zoffany is to go around the world with Mr. Banks, he is thought of very highly by the King; Sir Joshua, Mr. Chambers and Mr. Moser showed the King the Academy premium pictures.
