Content Description

Ponsonby felt that the King had not the slightest intention of ever asking the President to reinstate [Alfred] Gilbert as a member of the Royal Academy. The enquiry had come from Lady Helena Gleichen and might have been prompted by Gilbert himself. Ponsonby would leave the matter in a vague state and keep Lamb's letter [of 26 November 1926] by him for future reference.
