Frampton dislikes Gilbert, citing several recent occasions when he has defended both Gilbert and his work. He doesn't think Gilbert at all suited to the position of Director at the British School in Rome. They are thinking of placing working artists at the school each summer, but they have settled on a painter, and he doubts that Gilbert's wife would be "a comfort to the School".
