Content Description

Cockerell had written to F. C. Penrose to tell him of Gibson's wish to get to know him. He hoped to have the pleasure of conversing with Gibson about "monuments of British heroes of the 19th century". He takes Gibson to task about turning British figures into Roman senators, and ascribes his style to long residence in the city of Rome.
