Content Description

The letter serves as an introduction to Mr Ainger, a young man travelling for his health, who intended to take holy orders. Cockerell says that the Royal Academy felt Gibson's absence in every way; however, the President [Sir Charles Eastlake] was excellent and held them together admirably. Cockerell hoped that Gibson was preparing a model for the monument to the Duke of Wellington in St Paul's.
