Olwyn Bowey RA, Life Drawing of Old Woman

Life Drawing of Old Woman, late 1960s

Olwyn Bowey RA (b. 1936)

RA Collection: Art

Bowey made this life-drawing of an older woman at one of the Saturday morning life classes she taught at Ealing School of Art in the late 1960s while she was still living in London. Her friend and former tutor at the Royal College of Art, Carel Weight RA, had a studio at the time just on the other side of the road from where she lived and worked in Putney.

Bowey thinks that Weight probably purchased this work as she does not think she would have given a life-drawing as a gift.
