Brian Catling RA (b. 1948)
Brian Catling RA is a sculptor who also writes poetry, makes installations and performance pieces. Recently he has been writing novels and making small egg tempera portraits of cyclopses.
Catling was born in London in 1948. He studied at the East London Polytechnic (BA), followed by the Royal College of Art (MA). He is currently a fellow of Linacre College, Oxford and Professor of Fine Art at the Ruskin School of Drawing & Fine Art, University of Oxford.
Catling is a multi-media artist whose practice has encompassed sculpture, painting, performance, video making and poetry. He has been exhibiting his work internationally since 1975.
