Summary Note

The first volume contains Beechey's Memoir and Reynolds's Discourses I - VIII; the second, Reynolds's Discourses IX - XV, three essays from 'The Idler', Journey to Flanders and Holland, and his annotations on A.C. Dufresnoy's Art of Painting.

The frontispiece of Volume I shows the portrait of Reynolds by Gilbert Charles Stuart.
