Taking inspiration from the pioneers of graphic design exhibited in our current exhibition Revolution: Russian Art 1917-1932, we’re inviting you to design a profile picture for the Royal Academy’s social media pages. Draw on geometric shapes and Constructivist typography, or show us your own avant garde style. For inspiration, take a look at these five graphic design ideas from the Russian Revolution.
What to include
Your design should include the letters R and A, but beyond that, it’s up to you. You can download our “RA” logo below, plus a cut-out of Joshua Reynolds that you can include if you want to. We’ll need it to work as both a square and in a circle crop, to look its best on both Twitter and Instagram. Your square image should be 1200 x 1200 pixels.
How to enter
To enter, simply post your image on Instagram or Twitter by midnight on Wednesday 29 March using the hashtag #profilerevolution, mentioning @royalacademyarts on Instagram and @royalacademy on Twitter. Entries will be judged by the RA curatorial team.
The winner will be announced on Thursday 30 March on our Instagram, @RoyalAcademyArts, and our Twitter, @RoyalAcademy. Their design will be featured on the RA’s social media until the exhibition closes on 17 April, as well as receiving tickets to the next RA Late, America Dreaming and an exhibition catalogue. The runner-up will receive exhibition tickets.
