As one of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ cemeteries in London, West Norwood is a site of major historical, architectural and ecological interest with some of the finest sepulchral monuments in London.
Set within 42 acres, the cemetery opened in 1833 and was the first to be designed in the Gothic Revival style by architect Sir William Tite. Our tour takes us around the site to see some of the most striking monuments including Grade II listed St Stephen’s chapel in the Greek Section where the wealth of the 19th-century Greek merchant community in the area is evident from the many elaborate and extraordinary sculptures and mausolea to be seen here.
Please be aware that there is a substantial amount of walking on this tour.
This event is also taking place on 5 November 2015.
